What Will You Learn?

• Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
• Describe the physiology of wound healing and the factors that can influence the healing process.
• Conduct a comprehensive wound assessment including location, size, depth, exudate, surrounding skin, and patient factors.
• Identify different types of wounds (e.g., acute, chronic, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds).
• Explain the principles of aseptic technique and apply them to wound care procedures.
• Select and apply appropriate wound dressings based on wound type, size, and exudate.
• Perform basic wound cleansing and debridement techniques.
• Recognize and manage common wound complications (e.g., infection, hemorrhage, dehiscence).
• Develop and implement a wound care plan in collaboration with the patient and other members of the healthcare team.
• Promote patient comfort and well-being during wound care procedures.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive wound documentation.
