About Lesson

It is a band that secures the tracheostomy tube in place not to dislodge and compromise the patient’s airway.

  • Must be changed daily or as soon possible if soiled/damaged
  • To achieve a good fit of the tie and the neck region, two fingers should be placed between the tie and the patient

Inadequate management of the Trachy Necktie can cause:

  • Decannulation/ dislodgement of the Trachy tube
  • Skin breakdown around the neck region and stoma
  • Pressure sores on the neck region
